Mess Hall Arts 2025 Summer Camps are not like any other camp. No matter what your young artist loves or wants to learn, we guarantee we have something for EVERYONE! Check the drop-down weeks for more information about each camp. Or click the register button to go directly to our Booking Page.
Sibling discounts available when signing up 2 or more for same camp. We also have optional 1 hour before and after care.
We don’t think cost should deter children from getting an amazing experience with us at Mess Hall Arts. Please contact us if you think you would like to find out more about the select Scholarship spots available.

Week 1 - June 2nd - 5th Elements of Art & Famous Art Movements 1
AM Camp
Elements of Art: This class is a must for all artists. Elements of art are the visual components that artists use to create a masterpiece; line, shape, form, space, texture, color, and value. We will learn about and go in depth to learn about all 7 elements of art and then use the techniques to create masterpieces.

PM Camp
Famous Art Movements 1– there are 9 influential art movements in history. Our projects during this camp will include impressionism, cubism, expressionism, and pointillism.

Week 2 – June 9th - 12th Is It...Art & Comic Art
AM Camp
Is It… Art? Realistic Art: Hyperrealism is a genre of painting and sculpture resembling a high-resolution photograph. The hyperrealist style focuses much more of its emphasis on details and the subject. In this camp we will make use 3D Foam to create various pieces and you can decide….is it art? Is it a cake? Is it a succulent? Is it treats?

PM Camp
Comic Art Comic Book Art or Sequential Art is a style of art using panels and speech bubbles to tell a story. In this camp we will create a full comic with character development, story lines, page layouts and pop art. We will also explore flip books and make our own.

Week 3 – June 16th - 19th 3D Art & Art in the Kitchen
AM Camp
3D Art: 3D art takes up three-dimensional space and is viewable from many angles. We will learn about famous sculpture artists and create 3D art with spray foam, foam sheet creations, and bring animals to life.

PM Camp
Art in the Kitchen– Cake, Cookies, Cupcakes and more! In this camp you can expect to learn artistic techniques to decorate sweet and treats. Plan to play with piping bags, tips, fondant and tools on edible canvases. (no baking will be done in this class)

Week 4 – June 23rd - 26th 2D/Illusions & Drawing/Doodles
AM Camp
2 Dimensional & Illusions: 2D art is a visual art form that exists in two dimensions, or width and height, and is represented on a flat surface. We will create 2D art on canvas, diorama boxes and illusion art during the week of camp.

PM Camp
Drawing & Doodles– Are you a fan of Mr. Doodle, Sam Cox? We will spend this camp doodling like Mr. Doodle! We will study drawing basics of shading, tone and figures. We will learn about perspectives and pop art and even graffiti.

Week 5 – June 30th - July 3rd Board Game Design & Slime/Sensory
AM Camp
Games & More: Are you or your family fans of game night? Maybe you are learning chess or love winning at candy land. During this camp we will spend the week creating your own board game. We will create the board itself, characters (pieces), theme and rules. You will finish the week with your own new board game.

PM Camp
Slime & Sensory– In this camp we will expand beyond the simple glue slime. We will create various slimes with the multiple options for add ins and experimenting. However we wont just make slime we will use slime in many ways! We will create slime art, statues, sun catchers and more!

Week 6 – July 7th -10th Famous Art Movements 2 & Crafters Dream House

Famous Art Movements 2– there are 9 influential art movements in history. Our projects during this camp will include Abstract expressionism, dadaism, surrealism and pop art.

PM Camp
Crafters Dream House– In this camp, we will create our own village of wooden dream houses. Each artist will build their very own dream house. Plan to paint, construct, wallpaper, design rooms and create add-ins.

Week 7 – July 14th - 17th Metal/Leather Working & Kinetic Art

Metal & Leather Working: Art isn’t just paper and canvas. Metal and leather is a dynamic ever-evolving form of artistic expression. In this camp we will use multiple types of metals and leathers to create various art. Plan to create jewelry and various bag/pouches using, stamping, paint, special tools and more.

PM Camp
Kinetic Art– Kinetic art is any art with movement or the portrayal of movement. In this camp we will work to create sculptures, balancing mobiles, collages and marionette puppets. We will also challenge each artist to make a car and a boat. Does it float? Is it Fast? We will see…

Week 8 – July 21st -24th Fairy Gnomes Gardens & Elements of Art

Fairy, Gnomes & Gardens: Art isn’t just for indoors. In this camp we will explore the outdoor world around us. We will create art that can be placed in gardens, yards and even art that creates beautiful sound.

PM Camp

Week 10 – Aug 4th - 7th Fluid/Water Art & Is it...Art?
AM Camp
Fluid & Water Art- Fluid art is unpredictable and a ton of fun! In this camp we will explore art in many forms. Plan to get messy because we will be doing a paint pouring project, tye-dye 2 ways, bubble art, pendulum paintings and MORE.

Week 11 – Aug 11th - 14th Junk Journals/Mixed Media & All Fun/Games

Junk Journals & Mixed Media: Mixed media art is artwork which uses various materials are used. During this camp, we will make journals, collages and other art with various materials.

PM Camp
Art Games & Challenges– Sometimes you just want to be goofy with art! In this camp, art will be all fun and games. We will design a puzzle, paint with our feet, paint a friend, use different utensils to create art and more! Are you up for a fun art challenge?

Week 12 – Aug 18th - 21st Edible Art: Nail it! & State Fair Favs
AM Camp
Edible Art: Nail it version- This camp makes canvas a thing of the past. We think art should be anything we want. So this weeks camp we take plates, cakes, cookies and more and try to nail it…like the show. And yes we will have a peer vote and present winners. Plan to use simple ingredients to create masterpieces, fondant and frosting to make sweet designs.

State Fair Favs– The great Minnesota get together is almost here! Blue Ribbon Pies, The Perfect Apple, and of course the famous food on a stick! In this camp we will create the best of the best! Learn how to use plaster and foam pieces to create realistic works of art. Who’s ready for sweet corn and corn dogs?

Week 13 – Aug 25th - 28th State Fair Fun & 3D Art
AM Camp
State Fair Fun: Rides, games, and everything that makes the Fair the Fun! Oh My! In this camp we will create our own State Fair Gallery. Campers will create their own miniature ride, “butter” sculpture, and celebrate Minnesota’s History with Art!

3D Art– 3D art takes up three-dimensional space and is viewable from many angles. We will learn about famous sculpture artists and create 3D art with spray foam, plaster, foam pieces, and bring animals to life using cardboard and more.

Quick FAQs
- Our summer camps are 4 days and 3 hours long. We offer 2 camps a day, AM and PM.
- Discounts are available for siblings. (must be 2 or more for same camp)
- Each Artist must pack a snack and water bottle PER camp. If your artist is doing both camps please pack a lunch for the hour between camps. Lunch hour is fully staffed.
- Before and After care is optional if needed. We offer 1 hour before and 1 hour after Camps. 8-9am and 4-5pm. Must be signed up minimum a week prior to camps week.
- Camps are $350 each. Theres a discount for booking full day of camps for $600. To register for camp, 50% of total is due at time of booking. Remaining balance is due a minimum of 1 week prior to start of camp. This is automatically charged if a balance remains.
- A waiver for each art participant is REQUIRED. Link can be found in confirmation email or signature can be done upon drop off on first day.
- DRESS FOR MESS! We use a variety of materials and cannot guarentee that staining or damage to clothing will not happen. We provide each artist with an apron to help with mess.
- THURSDAYS- We invite all parents from the week to visit up to 30 minutes prior to dismissal to see the gallery of kids art before packing it up to bring home. Some weeks there will be contests. There will be peer voting and welcome the parents to vote as well.
