Mess Hall Arts

At Mess Hall Arts our specialty is messy art, the kind of art you don’t want to do at home! But what exactly does that mean?

We embrace all things art that are messy from splattering, pouring, rolling, smearing, scraping to piping and finger painting. We encourage imagination, creativity and exploration of mess.

Our primary medium is paint, we love to get paint on our hands. But we love doing all types of art. We focus heavily on the creative abstract arts allowing artists to see art from their own unique interpretation. No two pieces of art look a like at Mess Hall Arts. The beauty of abstract art is no prior experience or skills required! Anyone can be an artist!

When you come to one of our art experiences, be that a birthday party, private event, field trip, neon or one of our kids art programs, you’re in charge of the product you create. There’s no right or wrong way to make art at Mess Hall Arts and thats the way we like it.

Monthly Mess

April -

Our Monthly Mess technique for April is Chalk Pastels. These are not your sidewalk chalk full of fillers. This is a really cool medium that is very versatile. You can combine pastels with many other mediums like watercolors, acrylics, or even on water! Chalk pastels are messy and we love that! so come anf learn more and start smudging some art with us!

May -

The Monthly Mess Technique for May is Texture Painting. Texture art is not always tactile. It can be visual texture as well. This can be acheived by using thick paint, collage materials, tissue paper, sponges/tools, plaster compound or even implied texture with dry brushing, stippling, sand, or crackling. Come learn some of these techniques and add some depth and dimensions to your next piece of art!

June -

Our June monthly mess is all about Dale Chihuly. Many people know Dale for his colorful glass blowing and large scale sculptures. He was a pioneer at pushing the boundaries of what glass could do and how light could pass through the colorful glass. We will be exploring our own ways of creating "glass" sculptures by cutting, melting and painting plastic. Join us and get creative!
